We are Ian & Kassi Glassman, husband & wife ranchers behind the Utopia Genetics brand as well as our other ranch-related enterprises, Blue Silo Beef and Glassman Feeders. Both of us came from families involved with the Charolais breed, so its no surprise that we first met at a Charolais Jr. National Show back in 2003. We married in 2013 and relocated to our current 330 acre ranch in Lawrence County, Missouri in 2016 where we live with our children, Caden, Nora and Logan. The cows are black instead of white now, but our love for this agriculture life remains unchanged.

Our operation consists of nearly 100 head of crossbred and low percentage Simmental recip cows, calving to Simmental and SimAngus ET matings in both the spring and fall. Additionally, 30 head of donor cows and high percentage Simmental females are AI bred. The recips are cleaned up with UG raised Simmental herd sires as we also feed and develop our own bulls.
Beef Direct to Consumer
Blue Silo Beef
In effort to add more value to the bottom end of our calf crop, we launched Blue Silo Beef in 2018. Under this label we sell frozen beef direct to consumers in Southwest Missouri. Those animals earmarked for the beef program are typically low percentage Simmental steer calves that are born and raised here on our ranch. They're fed in the feedlot and finished with 60 days of a corn-based ration before slaughter. Visit our page to learn more.

Show Heifers for Sale
With backgrounds in the show ring, we both take pride in the Simmental females we raise as show heifer prospects. Our hope is to raise females that have the show ring look and then go on and perform as donors in the herd. Custom Feeding & Backgrounding
After purchasing the ranch, we built a bunk lot allowing us to feed up to 600 head on a TMR ration. We're always interested in picking up new custom feeding clients. Get ahold of Ian to discuss more about what we can offer.
